Mary Shelley

She was an English writer who is well-known for  her horror novel "Frankenstein, or the Modern Prometheus", published in 1818. She was born Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin on August 30, 1797, in London, England. Her father was a philosopher and political writer and her mother a feminist, the author of The Vindication of the Rights of Woman (1792).

When she was a child she didn't have formal education. She used to read books from her father's library. When she was 16 she eloped to Italy with the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, . Each encouraged the other's writing, and they married in 1816 after the suicide of Shelley's wife.

Her work is often considered an early example of science fiction. She attributed her inspiration to write Frankenstein to a nightmare.

GROUP WORK

Think big, do bigger.

How can you convince us that your short story is the best?

What aspects of your short story would you change? Why?

And if you had the opportunity to participate in one of those meetings, why do you think these writers would choose you?
